ato tgz pun tidak masalah. saya sarankan pake tgz ato tar.gz yang di artikel Om Kocil sudah dibahas. Ini rangkuman dari linux packages, om Kocil dan hasil oprek dikit! hehehe.
Kali ini adalah resep upgradenya, hasil berhari-hari mencoba dan tak disangka
dapet jawaban dalam sekejap setelah sedikit putus asa, hehehe.
Ada beberapa cara:
1. Terhubung Internet dan Install langsung
2. Download dan pasang, (bisa juga dapet dari temen....ini yang banyak biasanya :)..)
3. Mengubah file eksekusi office1.1.4 ke office-2.0
Kita lakukan satu persatu. (gayanya Om kocil saya ambil dikit)
1. Terhubung ke Internet dan Install langsung
a. pastikan internet Anda jalan lancar ato nebeng ke warnet, hehehe.
b. jalankan terminal, masuk sebagai root
$ su -l
password *****
c. # slapt-get --update (jika belum update), kalo sudah komplit dan sukses, jalankan
d. # slapt-get --search office (akan muncul beberapa software, pilih openoffice) biasanya akan muncul openoffice 2.0-i586-4vl5 (ini yg penting)
# slapt-get --install openoffice ...silahkan tunggu.
Jika sukses, karena filenya cukup besar (101MB) maka sistem akan langsung menginstall. biarkan si VL beraksi hingga keluar tanda .... Done.
Langsung klik openofficenya, biasanya langsung beraksi tuh si office2.0. selesai.
Masalah muncul jika kemudian ada pesan: Do not enough space to download packages dan jika ini terjadi, sabar. langsung ke nomor 2.
2. Download dan pasang.
a. Download saja ke www.openoffice.org, atau saya sarankan ke www.linuxpackages.net dan cari openoffice dan pilih openoffice 2.0 dan nama filenya openoffice.org-2.0-i586-2kjz.tgz. Klik via ftp jika ingin cepet dan stabil ato via http.
b. silahkan pindah ke direktori /tmp ato /usr/src ato /opt (biasanya nanti lsg di /opt)
c. copy file tersebut ke /tmp dan langsung install
# cd /tmp
# ls (pastikan file office.2.0 tadi sudah di /tmp)
# pkgtool (buat install) instalasi akan berlanjut sesuai order, tinggal diarahin ke openoffice. Coba openofficenya.
3. Mengubah file eksekusi.
Masalah ini muncul ketika kita ingin menggunakan openoffice yang ternyata masih versi lama, hal tersebut karena file eksekusi yang dimaksud adalah masih menyimpan file office versi lama.
Tips dan triknya adalah:
a. pastikan file execute office ada
# ls /usr/bin (filenya adalah: openoffice.org-2.0 )
# ls /opt (pastikan ada direktori: openoffice.org-2.0 )
# ls /opt/bin (pastikan ada file execute: soffice@ )
b. go to the trick
# cp /usr/bin/openoffice.org-2.0 /opt/openoffice.org-2.0/
# cd /opt/bin
# ln -sf ../openoffice.org-2.0 /openoffice.org-2.0/openoffice.org-2.0 soffice
c. ini yang menarik!! klik open office Anda di desktop VLsoho. dan
d. Voila ..! OpenOffice2.0 comes to you. Biar makin yakin, reboot si Linux atau
e. # init 3
f. # init 4 (trus coba lagi)
Tips ini sukses di VL Soho 5.0.1 tapi belum untuk distro lain. Tapi dicoba tidak ada salahnya. Mudah-mudahan artikel ini membantu dan makin cinta VL.

Beryl, Windows Manager 3D
Syarat agar bisa menikmati windows manager 3D di Linux ada 6, yakni:
- Komputernya punya kartu video 3D, misal nvidia atau Intel 915.
- Linuxnya punya X.org 7.x (Pakai seri 6.9 juga bisa, tapi tidak semua kartu didukung)
- Ada driver untuk kartu video 3D. Kalau NVidia, harus download propriatery driver dulu. Sementara itu untuk Intel 915 tinggal set X.org supaya pakai driver i810.
- Kemudian xorg-nya harus di-set supaya hidup DRI, 3D accelerator, dan composite.
- Ada desktop manager yang sesuai. Saat ini yang sudah bagus mendukung Beryl adalah KDE dan GNOME, namun pakai XFCE4 juga bisa.
- Pasang Beryl, si windows manager 3D.
- UBuntu Fiesty
- Mandriva 2007.1
Silahkan dicoba. Ditanggung bakal kesemsem. Oh ya, Beryl ini perlu RAM yang besar, namun saya coba sudah terasa enak di laptop dengan RAM 512MB. Lumayan, hal yang sama di Windows Vista perlu RAM 2 GB.
Konversi Audio CD jadi MP3
- CD Paranoia. Paket ini membaca Audio CD menjadi WAV. Format WAV ini data mentah yang belum dikompresi.
- CDDB. Ini database tentang CD, yang otomatis akan memberi nama penyanyi, nama album dan nama lagu. Kalau tidak pakai CDDA juga tidak apa-apa, tapi anda harus mengisikan data tiap track secara manual.
- LAME. Ini dia yang akan mengkonversi WAV jadi MP3. Dengan tiga paket di atas, anda sudah bisa konversi Audio CD jadi MP3, tapi dari command line. Kalau mau cara GUI pakai ...
- RipperX. Ini GUI front-end untuk CD Paranoia, CDDA dan LAME.
root@jawa:# installpkg /download/lame*.tgzRipperX akan langsung menjalankan CDParanoia, kalau belum klik tombol Scan. Kalau anda tersambung ke Internet, klik CDDB biar otomatis muncul nama penyanyi, album maupun lagu.
root@jawa:# installpkg /download/ripperx*.tgz
root@jawa:# ripperX
Klik Options, lalu pada tab MP3 pilih LAME Encoder, Format 128 bit.
Selanjutnya tinggal klik GO. Tunngu sekitar 3 menit per lagu, anda akan dapat high quality MP3.
